This morning I was meditating and the focus of the meditation was abundance–somewhat fitting for the month of November where there is so much to be thankful for. And–as usual–my mind wandered while trying to meditate. It went to a conversation KC and I had last week when she overheard a laughter filled phone call I had with a dear friend.
“Mom, is Geni like a sister to you?”
A little perplexed, I asked her why she wanted to know. Her response, “Because she makes you so happy and I can tell you love her.”
Geni is a longtime friend of mine, and someone very close to me. This opened up a discussion about friendship and how some of my friends are family to me. With that, KC started to run down the list of some of my closest friends–some of which I’ve been friends with for over 30 years, others I’ve gotten to know through the lifetime of our children–each incredibly special to me.
Since the focus of the meditation was abundance, I spent the remaining time focusing on being grateful for the abundance of good friends in my life.
Today I challenge you to take a breath and be grateful for someone in your life. It could be a friend or just someone who has enriched your world by being in it. Abundance surrounds us, but sometimes I think we have to open our eyes to appreciate it.
